Let's meet our Chief Operating Officer of q.Beyond

Today we interview Thies Rixen, Chief Operating Officer of q.Beyond.

Hi Thies, it was great to see you in Riga this April to celebrate our second anniversary!
Q: You’ve been with q.beyond for three years now, what do you find most exciting about this company?
A: Most of all, I like our clients and collaborating with them to overcome the challenges that come with every project. I’m proud that we at q.beyond are a trusted partner for the digital transformation of our clients’ businesses. On top of that, I really like the people I work with, especially their commitment to q.beyond and their creativity in handling any issues that have arisen.

Q: Thies, you are the Chief Operating Officer at q.beyond. Your main responsibilities are managing sales and operations. Tell us, what do you like about your job?
A: To be honest, I like every part of my job! But I especially like that I’m part of the leadership team who’ve put our “beyond 25” strategy in motion to interact with clients and to solve their short-term and long-term problems.

Q: Why have you decided to build an office in Riga?
A: We decided that it’s time for us to become more international, to get a new perspective and fresh talents. If you want to grow as a company, you need to step out of your comfort zone, and this is exactly what we did. We opted for Latvia due to its strong cultural connections and the vibrant startup community.

Q: What first comes to your mind when you think of your Riga team?
A: During these past two years, I’ve learnt that our Latvian team is very focused on “getting things done” and only asks questions on important matters. They’re a mixture of very professional, friendly, positive, eager to learn, and self-organized people!

Q: How do you envisage your future work with the Riga team? What are your short-term and long-term plans, which new areas are you willing to explore?
A: My initial goal was to establish and launch the Riga team. We did it despite the pandemic. Now we have integrated our German and Latvian  teams. The next phase is to adjust the structure of the Riga team based on specific technologies and features, such as security, DevOps and cloud engineering.

Q: What message would you like to give the current and future employees of q.beyond Riga?
A: I hope that together we will prosper, foster q.beyond’s reputation and expand its customer portfolio! Stay positive and be great role models for others!
Grow, learn and have fun!
