q.beyond Riga celebrates its’ 1st anniversary!

Currently we are nine people in the q.beyond Riga office - eager to learn and create new things together with colleagues from other locations.

Here is our story!

The idea

It all started in 2019 when q.beyond management decided to expand outside of Germany and look for new workforce markets.

Eventually, it was decided to build up a new branch in Riga, Latvia. Latvia’s IT sector provides substantial competitive advantages, mainly through the availability of highly skilled IT professionals, language skills, and a combination of Western-style working culture. Also, highly developed communications and logistics infrastructure and very high labor productivity was one of the main factors.

The launch

Even though q.beyond Riga was officially registered on the 29th of April, 2020, the first employee – Ieva (Talent Acquisition Manager) - joined the company only three months later, in July and then things started to move fast.

The initial strategy was developed, spots were rented in a co-working place and the recruitment started.

It works!

The first team, which got colleagues from Riga was the SAP Basis team. Of course, it was a big change for the team as suddenly the language switched to English and collaboration got more virtual. But the experiment with a distributed international team proved to be successful and we started to add more colleagues from Riga.

We also started to work together with another team - Microsoft Administration and already have plans to onboard other teams.

Future

Currently, we are nine people in the q.beyond Riga office - eager to learn and create new things together with colleagues from other locations.

Our plan is to grow in count, knowledge and skills and become a strong unit that q.beyond can rely on.
